Question 1

What is miraDry?

Accepted Answer

miraDry is a non-surgical, FDA-cleared treatment that permanently reduces underarm sweat, odor, and hair by eliminating sweat glands using thermal energy. It's safe, effective, and requires little to no downtime.

Question 2

Is the miraDry treatment permanent?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Sweat glands do not regenerate once destroyed, so the results are long-lasting. Most patients see up to 80–90% reduction in underarm sweat and odor after one or two sessions.

Question 3

Is the procedure painful?

Accepted Answer

No. Local anesthesia is applied to the treatment area to ensure comfort throughout the session. You may feel slight pressure or warmth, but most patients describe the experience as very tolerable.

Question 4

How long does the procedure take?

Accepted Answer

A typical miraDry session takes about one hour, including preparation and treatment. You can return to most daily activities immediately afterward.

Question 5

Are there any side effects?

Accepted Answer

Common side effects include temporary swelling, redness, numbness, or soreness in the underarm area. These usually subside within a few days to a week.

Question 6

Will I still sweat normally after miraDry?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your body has over 2 million sweat glands, and only about 2% are located in the underarms. miraDry targets only the underarm area, so your body can still regulate temperature naturally.

Question 7

How many treatments do I need?

Accepted Answer

Most patients achieve their desired results after just one treatment. However, depending on your condition, a second session may be recommended for optimal results.

Question 8

Can miraDry help with body odor (bromhidrosis)?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Since miraDry removes odor-producing glands, it also significantly reduces or eliminates underarm body odor in addition to sweat.

Question 9

Who is a good candidate for miraDry?

Accepted Answer

You may be a good candidate if you suffer from excessive underarm sweating, have tried deodorants or Botox without success, want a permanent solution, or experience body odor related to sweat glands.
